Itinerary for the day

Our driver/guide will pick you up from your preferred start point in Addis and you’ll head out of the city northeast in a private 4x4. The journey to Debre Berhan takes 2 hours and along the way, we stop off for a coffee and chance to visit a highland market (Tuesdays and Saturdays). When we arrive at Debre Berhan, you’ll visit the Selassie church which was built in the early 19th century. After the church, we can take a short hike It’s possible to take a walk. The landscape is alpine landscape and ideal for short and long hikes.



It is also possible to drive to Ankobar around 40km from Debre Brehan. At Ankobar, we will visit Ankobar Lodge which was once Emporer Menelik II palace. In the late 1800s, the palace was used by the Menelik to confine political prisoners. Not far from Ankobar Lodge is Aliyu Amba , a Muslim community tucked away in the lowland valleys. We will have some lunch and coffee in Akobar and drive back to Addis Ababa in the late afternoon arriving in time for a traditional Ethiopian dinner.
