Spend the day immersed in pristine woodlands away from the hustle and bustle of Addis. During this private outdoor adventure tour just a stone’s throw from the city, you’ll go on a private hike through an indigenous Ethiopian forest – Menagesha Suba Park and picnic in the fresh clean air amongst endemic monkeys, antelopes and beautiful bird life. The deeper you trek into the forest, the thicker the vegetation becomes, transforming from alpine to rainforest.

Itinerary for the day
Start-to-finish this day trip takes around 7 hours. Our driver/guide will pick you up from your place or hotel of choice in Addis early in the morning with a packed lunch and filtered drinking water pre-organized. The drive takes around 1 hour on the new Ambo road before turning onto a gravel road towards the forest entrance taking a further 30 minutes. We reach the park headquarter and register (your park entrance fees are included in total trip price).
There are several different options of hiking routes through the forest depending on your level of fitness and interest – open to discuss with your guide. It is also possible to drive through to certain points in the park and arrange a pick-up if you’d prefer. The most popular hike is a trek to see the waterfall which takes around 1.5 hours, or you can hike to the highest point in the park which takes 2-3 hours.
*It is also possible to organize camping trips as several camping spots are accessible along the walking trail. Bunk beds in base camp are also available.
This price is for two travellers (price per person) based on moderate accommodation, and gets cheaper the more people that join. Feel free to message us via firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss any special requests you have.
